Soulive's crack Kool & The Gang funky rhythms and chief underground MCs Wordsworth & J-Live collide in the studio for this track from the 7 Heads Are Better Than 1 compilation! It's a nice one, too! Soulive can be a bit sterile sometimes for our grimy ears, but the recent collaborations with MCs like the ones here, and the other recent hip hop summit meetings they've hosted add just the right bounce to their trademark nufunk sound! "Bosoms" is a treacherous, unpretentious booty rocker with that sweet Soulive via Jimmy Smith organ and bass groove, wicky wicky guitar and propulsive horn funk. Wordsworth and J-Live are so tight on the mic that they make even a cut called "Bosoms", one with big cartoon boobs on the sleeve sound important! Nice bounce all around, and in a better world this would slip right up at the top of the charts with "Milkshake" and "Hey Ya!!!". |
