In 2003, Kajmere Sound Recordings was born with the release of its first 12" single, "This Journey In" by The Rebirth, dubbed "the little song that could" for its ability to find its way to people by a connection deeper than it's material value. Three years later and 16 releases to date, ranging from soul to nu-jazz to hip hop to deep funk to deep soulful house, the first compilation apply named "The Kajmere Sound Vol. 1", embodies the same relentless energy and spirit. Made up primarily of the cuts from the dozen 12" releases that the company dropped since it's inception, this will be the first time most of these tracks are available on CD. Add in four special exclusives by The Rebirth, Choklate, MotionLab, and Nafro, and you have a diverse and passionate record where each of the 16 tracks typify Kajmere's taste-making sound and continue to lay the groundwork for the bridge that continues to be built. |
