After we finished Eccentric Soul: The
Deep City Label, a grip of tapes
turned up at famed Miami producer
Willie Clarke’s ex-wife’s house. From
the second we heard this unreleased
Deep City girl group, we knew it had
to be available on 45, for no other
purpose than to file it in our own
boxes. “Knockin’ At The Wrong Door”
borrows heavily from the Jackson
Five’s “I Want You Back,” while the
flip is a nice ballad in the Honey Cone
vein.
Limited to 500 copies and housed in
a gorgeous two-tone Eccentric Soul
sleeve for easy filing (from the numero group). |
