The Bards formed in Washington State in the early sixties amidst the flurry of other more well-known bands such as the Sonics and Kingsmen. The Pacific Northwest produced a lot of great talent during these years, and the Bards were certainly one of the more interesting and innovative of the lot. They released a slew of 45s between 1966 and 1971 on such notable labels as Jerry Dennon's Piccadilly, Panorama, and Jerden labels, as well as Capitol and Parrot. In 1980, an unreleased album by them from 1967 was released on the Piccadilly label; however the music you are about to listen to now is their masterpiece!!
The Moses Lake sessions were recorded in Los Angeles in 1969 under the production team of Curt Boetcher and Keith Olsen (The Association, Millenium, and many others). Their production talents, coupled with the muscianship, polish, and originality of The Bards, is deeply injected into this previously unreleased material. |
