For Well Rounded's 10th release we return again to the beloved 10" format for this punchy release by Bristol's Kidkut, which is aimed straight at the heart of the rave.
Kidkut is the production alias of Adam Jackson - owner of the highly respected Immerse record label based in Bristol. This is his 2nd release at the controls following the fresh tropical blast of 'Lilt' / 'I Love 04' on Applepips.
A: 'Get Sum' begins it's charge with skippy snares and skankin' chords propelling the track towards a killer bouncing groove containing weighty bass blasts and tight vocal cut ups. It's like the perfect amalgam of brash breaks and carnival energy. However, when we hit the breakdown we are suddenly thrown back thru the mists of time to the glory days of our UK rave heritage. A classic piano drop will get their hands in the air everytime before the whole track builds back together with renewed zip.
AA: Flip the plate for Chirm - 'Luvin' U (Kidkut's Fidget Mix)'. Here, Adam has rehoused the helium hiccup vocals in a tuff, straight between the balls 4 to da floor Garage smasher. Indeed there is a Fidget feel as the bassline gets jerked up and down the octaves in key places to keep the dancefloor on it's toes. This one is full of relentless momentum, with unexpected drops, flips and twists, and all sounding hard and happy at the same time. Time to get them shoulders werkin'. |
