Truth & Soul is proud to release the second single from uber-talented UK artist Liam Bailey. Recorded nearly two years ago, both sides were produced by Leon Michels and Jeff Silverman (Lee Fields / Aloe Blacc) and perfectly showcase Liam's sublime singing, songwriting, and musicianship.
Side A is an uptempo song that sounds like the musical lovechild of Curtis Mayfield and Waylon Jennings. A soul track with a country twist, Please Love Me has Liam in a falsetto while tough drums and lush strings dance around his vocals and a country guitar line gives the song an unrelenting bounce. Side B, On My Mind, is a swampy blues suffle with Liam, this time in full voice, singing in his instantly recognizable Nottingham drawl. The band creates a dark foundation for Liam with guitar stabs, rich orchestration, and a repetitive groove that changes only at the right moments.
Over the past 6 months, Liam Bailey has garnered a lot of attention touring with his own band as well as with his platinum selling UK band Chase & Status and it looks as if people are finally catching on. |
