International release date 26.05.2014 *** May 26th will see the release of "Aftermath", the sophomore album of Hundreds from Hamburg. Four years after the release of their debut album, Eva and Philipp Milner have expanded their minimalist electronic approach to include extensive melodies and pop greatness, making "Aftermath" the temporary highpoint of their exceptional and remarkable history.

Let's take a step back and remember: In 2010, two unknown siblings named Eva and Philipp Milner got together to record a small and nice and special album. And ever so slowly, step by step, without a big budget or radio airplay, it became one of the greatest indie pop stories in recent times.

Hundreds started playing shows all over Europe, they played international festivals like South by Southwest (US), Iceland Airwaves and The Great Escape (UK). Parallel to that, their first album "Hundreds" was released in more and more European countries.

When they started working on "Afternath" finally, they themselves had changed and they had grown out of the dark and melancholy feel of their debut. The siblings agree that during the four years after the release of "Hundreds" they had settled, both privately and professionally, feeling elated and relieved. This was the basic feeling they wanted reflected in their songs.

The new material was created in a very organic way, carried by a tension and an excitement that may be exclusive to the relation between siblings. Everything on "Aftermath" appears both familiar and foreign, seasoned and adventurous, distanced and deeply emphatic. A sound along the lines of Massive Attack, Dido or Radiohead. Of course, no comparison can really do them justice. For together with a small number of other artists, the Milner siblings were the first to establish the precise blend of post rock, synth pop, R’n’B, folk and electronics that is now modern pop music’s state of the art. But with "Aftermath" Hundreds take that distinctive extra step towards pop music.

All in all, Hundreds have spent eighteen months working on "Aftermath". When most of the work was done, the Milners decided to admit a corrective into their workflow – a first in their career – introduced British producer David Pye (Wild Beasts) into the process. The new Hundreds music thrives on tension and dynamics and hypnotic arcs of suspense like you hear them in "Ten Headed Beast", where sparse little moments follow enormous bouts of passion and vice versa. Hundreds are still mainly an electronic band, but they have become warmer, more organic and more song-oriented than they used to be. Even though they did not know it at first, Eva Milner says: "This is exactly where we wanted to be. We wanted to develop this sound and express these emotions."

And it worked out. Well done.

This deluxe 2LP comes in a gatefold sleeve plus bonus CD inluding remixes and cover-versions and download-code added!
