On What I Actually Do, future funk masterminds Liquid Pegasus (includes members of Freakway) infuses their spacey, boogie-laden take on the Minneapolis sound with a pronounced Japanese influence. It's like a kid from Toyko went to visit his family in Minnesota for a couple of weeks in the mid 80s but also had a few weeks lay over in LA. Heavy Sounds featuring a few choice solo's from Star Creature recording artist "E. Live" (Flotational Device, Be Free). The songs are a hot bed of twangy jazz-funk riffs, slappy bass, slick, tight drums, sexy guitar licks and shiny, bendy synthesizers. This debut LP is from Japan's City Baby Records in conjunction with Chicago's Star Creature Records. |
