Born and raised in Rockford Illinois, Meaty got obsessed with collecting old records early on, and started DJing, collecting records, and sampling 2 second loops on a little Gemini mixer. Moving to Chicago in 1998, he started taking beats more seriously, and began using Sonic Foundry Acid Pro 3.0 to make loops and beats, and started making rap beat tapes to sell and pass out.
Eventually joining the label Galapagos4, Meaty pumped out beats for local rappers, along with instrumental 7"s on labels like Heardrums, Memphix, Curio, Bully, and Fieldwerk.
Marinades! is a collection of unreleased beats, some inner circle classics that never made it on to official releases, and short jams that never turned into full songs. All the music you hear was produced between 2000 and 2012, produced on SP-303, Sonic Foundry Acid, SP1200, and Ableton. These beats have been marinating, and are finally making their way to your plate. Bon Appetit! |
