Berlin DJ Collective True Beatz unearth two late-80ies Megamixes from legendary German DJ & Collector THOMAS Z. “Good Delight” throws every known and unknown version of “Good Times” and “Rappers Delight” into one mix. This is the ultimate party record from NY to Kingston and from Rio to Munich. “The Discotizer” does a similar job by getting busy with more boogie rap and disco classics. Both tracks are based on megamixes that THOMAS Z did for his radio show “Footstompin Music” on Radio 100 Berlin, using a bandmachine and a razor-blade. The True Beatz crew has updates the edits but kept 70% of the original mixes, making sure that this really is a journey into time. THOMAS Z is one of the unsung heroes of German DJ & collector scene. He build a massive collection via frequent buying-trips to the USA in the 80ties (and later sold his collection to people like Jazzanova and Florian Keller). His radio show “Footstompin’ Music” was a major influence for a whole generation of djs, producers and collectors from Berlin. The TRUE BEATZ crew consist of Steve Rolle, Stone Fingers, Stenoe and Resoul (who also run the Soultrade record store). They laying hip-hop, breaks and funk at major Berlin clubs in clubs like Bohannon, Cafe Moskau and Icon. They have released a dope 12″ on GAMM ("The Workout” and Resoul has complied the “Secret Love” (Sonar Kollektiv) comps with Jazzanova. |
