Ervin Rucker started out as a pianist and composer in the 1950s. After he released his sole single on Musette he changed his name to Big Daddy Rucker in the late 60s. At the same time he founded his own GME label on which he released 45s under his own name as well as this one by Dede Copeland. "The Price I Had to Pay" is jazzy soul track while the flip "You Gotta Give up Some Money" is an excellent sister funk cut.
