WELCOME TO DETROIT. Or to be more precise, 14611 Nine Mile Road, East Detroit, the original home of GM Records and recording studio founded by Guido Marasco in 1968. Marasco also ran the Bumpshop label from the site, named after the car repair shop next door. A tiny third label, Love, was also part of the operation but only spawned one release, the mighty funk outing “The Pusher” by Final Decisions. Marasco died in 2015 leaving behind an interesting legacy of R&B, Funk, Psych and Northern Soul that is only now enjoying the recognition that is deserves. |
