yohei is a Japanese American singer-songwriter based in LA who has been creating, playing and recording music for well over a decade now.
With music under his own name as well as projects like My Hawaii and Moonie Moonie (duo of yohei and Seth Ford-Young from Phi-Psonics), yohei has also composed music for the film "Hee" directed by Kaori Momoi.
Echo You Know is a 2024 album originally released on CD by Think! Records and cassette by Perpetual Doom, featuring his signature "yard pop" sound: intricate yet catchy pop jewels recorded outdoors in his garden, with guest musicians and friends like Paint Lobo, Keith Karman, Rob Dobson, Nels Cline and many others.
Echo You Know is yohei's beautifully crafted cosmic garden of heirloom melodies where he's showcasing his deep resonation with the planet, the plants and vibes around him. Dream like sensory music so accessible with it's sheer beauty that you might miss how intricately well crafted these singer-songwriter pearls are - at first glance.
Reminiscent of Jim O'Rourke's pop albums for Drag City, Haruomi Hosono's Dandy days or the sunshine drenched vocal harmonies of the Beach Boys, yohei takes us to the edge of his dreams with his humble and magnificent treasure troves of brilliant melodies. Melodies so dreamy they stir up the right amount of melancholy to feel the lightness.
This first vinyl issue of his album Echo You Know is presented here as a compilation of songs from Echo You Know as well as three singles yohei recorded and released after the album had been published: Tabula Rasa, Whenever I Want To and This Should Be A Song. It also contains one of his amazing cover songs: Sticky Music.
