The true definition of a "rare-groove", "Windy City Theme" is a triumphant, funky paean to the spiritual home of the Blues, Jazz and House music. Often closely guarded by the rare record cognoscenti this scarce 45 on the Chi Sounds label was originally released in 1976 and became a solid staple of London's underground rare-groove scene, finding favour with DJ's like Norman Jay and Giles Peterson with the track even appearing on their groundbreaking "Journeys By DJ" mix. B-side cut "Show Me The Way" is not to be overlooked either, a smooth, stepping soul number with lush orchestration and yearning vocals featuring the amazing arrangements of The Chi-Sound Orchestra, sounding like a beautiful cross between MFSB and Marvin Gaye. An utterly essential 45! |
