Producer/writer/drummer/MC/DJ/master of lampoonery, J-Zone, returns with a 7” single of new material. “Stick Up” is a dirty, dusty instrumental that features J-Zone behind the drum kit trading syncopated funk grooves with carnivalstyle Hammond organ in a workout that’s as close to a funk 45 from 1969 as you’ll get in 2014. The controversial flip side, “Mad Rap,” is a vocal affair that sees Zone and sidekick, Chief Chinchilla, challenging the word “hater,” a handful of celebrities, rap music and the slow death of the unpopular opinion.
